I am trying to together a motorised satellite system so I can watch European
TV and the Freeview stations on Astra but I cannot seem to find a Euro
receiver that will enable me to watch the ITV channels and channels 4 and 5
which are both supposed to be free by requite a conditional access module.
It looks like CAM's for Sky are not available except if they are built in to
Sky boxes but the problem with these is that the ones I've seen do not have
the ability to control Disecq 1.2 motors as far as I know and I do not think
they can be programmed to revive signals from other satellites except Astra.
Does anyone know of a receiver that can pick up Sky together with all the
interactive channels and the EPG and text pages but also control a Disecq
1.2 motor and has other satelties and their position programmed into it.
Also do the Euro receivers that are out now have Hellas Sat II (39 deg E)
programmed into them and if not can they be upgraded or updated manually
with the new sattleite.
Can the Panasonic DSB40 which is a Sky receiver be programmed to pick up
Hellas Sat II ?
Does the Technomate TM-5500CI have an EPG and interactive text compatibility
or should I get a Manhattan Skyline 3000 or something else instead.
Also will a standard Disecq 1.2 motor be able to reach 39 deg east which
requires a horizontal right ascension of about 49 degrees from true south to
see it from London according to the Hellas Sat web site and a declination of
about 20 degrees above the horizon. Should I be worried about my neighbours
houses being in the way because this altitude seems pretty low.
Thanks if you can help.
