Tim, just a side question concerning your training - how much hiking
did you do in preparation?

And why I asked the question above. Walking muscles are a different
animal and need strengthening just like the rest. It's amazing how
many people know they need to walk the ups yet never practice
walking thinking it's less work and can be ignored.
