None of my queues have ever had the word "binary" or "binaries" in
the name.

This is doing my head in as I do not seem to get the same results
when I return to the same settings. I am working carefully makinh
one change at a time and I am closing/relaunching Xnews each time
(although for GROUPS.INI this does not seem to be strictly necessary
for entries like the main server override).

Grrrr!

The furstrating result I am getting is that there is no altserver
list set in XNEWS.INI but I get altservers tried in my folders. And
the particularly weird thing is that the first named server in
altservers is NOT tried if the main server does have the article but
instead the second (and last) named server in alterservers is tried
immediately after the main server fails.

GRRRRRRR!!!

What is going on?

I then disabled all alteserver entries everywhere and still there is
an altserver accessed on the queues but it is one which is nowhere
defined!

Maybe there is something in the registry (am using XP Pro) as I knw
that Xnews does do some registry setting.

I am stumped. Maybe it is a bug somewhere in Xnews itself? Who
knows.

I don't want to be the funny guy but I don't understand this post
(although I have been learning a lot about queues in the last few
days from the poster, Tech Zero). I have to say that I don't even
properly understand his conclusion in that posting:

"When looking for the AltServers to use X-News does it base on the
group it was pulled from and not the queue file it is currently
using. As such there is no way to set-up a queue file to react to
server time-outs the way X-News does "Pre-Alt -Server"; as in
indefinitely retry the sever it was "Queued" from."
