I learned what insurance really costs the hard way. Last year, before
my wife and I consolidated plans, our separate plans cost us 1050 per
month. Once we were able to drop one of the plans we got family
coverage for somewhere around 750 per month. It wasn't all that hot a
plan but it was something. This year we're paying about 400 per month
for a better plan. The company I'm working for picks up the rest of
the tab. Of course, I wouldn't get *that* money if I opted out of
coverage.
