I'm the one down the street from Whole Foods in New Orleans. I hadn't
mentioned it, but the best store bought bread I've had here is a bread I get
on occasion from Whole Foods. They have a small boule they sell, I think
they call it Italian country loaf, that is very good. Good crust, excellent
crumb and flavor. I'd like to make something like it myself.
I hope I didn't come off as too negative when talking about La Boulangerie.
They make very good bread and pastries. I just happen to think that my
sourdough loaves have a better flavor and texture than theirs. Theirs look a
hell of a lot better than mine. I wish I could produce prettier bread.
