YOU can appeal to authority with "all REPUTABLE scientists believe in
Evolution!"
But if I say, "And I know half-a-dozen astronauts -- reputable
scientists ALL-- who believe in creation", that's "appealing to
authority!"
You want the cake and you want to eat it!
