Well, don't give up just yet.
Some old white guy at the local Red Cross shelter, 79 years old, (in
company of his sister and son, or something, they too seemed about his
age) gave me his daughter's cell number because he couldn't figure out
the payphone and pre-paid phone card, and couldn't reach them. So ever
since last Monday, I hit the re-dial button on my cell once or twice a
day.
A few minutes ago*, I got the same old "All circuits are busy"
recording again, but a moment after that, my phone rang and a female
voice asked me, if I just tried to call her. I gave her the name and
descriptions ... it was his daughter alright and she had already given
them up for dead. So we bawled for a while, and then I told her where
to find her dad and company.
* Me, September 6th.
